It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Now that Halloween and Bonfire night are out the way, everything is starting to feel a little bit festive in the region as we get ready for the annual Christmas Lights switch-on in Romford.

The free event gets underway from 4.30pm this coming Thursday 15th November, at Romford marketplace and will feature a whole host of entertainment to celebrate the start of the Christmas period.

Reggie ‘n’ Bollie, the duo best known for finishing as runners-up on the 2015 edition of The X Factor will headline the show.

There will also be performances from Upminster’s own James Smith who was once a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent, Frances Bardsley school choir and Elm Park singer Charlie Dillion who appeared on The Voice Kids.

On top of all that the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch will deliver a preview of their seasonal pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk, there will be a magical snowdome performance and the action-packed event will finish with the big firework finale.

Last year saw record numbers of attendees with more than 10,000 revellers joining in the festivities.

Councillor Damian White, the Leader of Havering Council said: “Across the borough lights will be going on to lighten the winter gloom and I’m so pleased that we can once again start the countdown to Christmas in the borough with a spectacular and popular event in Romford’s Market Place.

“The Market Place has long been the heart and soul of Romford Town Centre and is a proud part of Havering’s heritage. I hope everyone comes along to enjoy this event or one of the many other Christmas events across our borough.”
