Broadband connectivity one of the main factors when choosing new home

According to new research, broadband connectivity is now seen as one of the most important factors to consider when choosing a new home.

Industry experts analysed five years of survey results in a bid to establish the most important considerations people have when moving property.

Privacy was the most important factor mentioned by 66 per cent of respondents in the survey. This was closely followed by access to local amenities and public transport.

However, there was a significant increase in the importance of digital connectivity, increasing from 48 per cent in 2013 to 57 per cent, highlighting the significant development and ever-growing importance of the digital age over the last five years.

Access to public transport was mentioned significantly by respondents to the survey seeing an increase of 11 per cent since 2013, with the number of people interested in being able to walk to work also sees an 11 per cent rise.

The analysis also showed marked changes when it comes to the size and type of home respondents expected to move into in the future.

Experts claim that urban living has become more popular in recent years with people wanting easier access and more speed in all areas of their hectic lives whilst still valuing their privacy and feeling secure.

They believe that home buyers have realised they can have everything they need on their doorstep if they compromise on the privacy of a detached home and claim this to be the main reason behind the dramatic decrease in the popularity of detached homes from 83 per cent down to 49 per cent.
